Choose your lite style

The lite is the glass or screen opening. Every wood door comes in three layouts, with raised wood panels below on the half and 2/3 lite styles.

  • Half lite: opening in the upper half, with two vertical or two horizontal raised panels below. The most traditional look.
  • 2/3 lite: a taller opening with a single panel below, for more light and airflow.
  • Full lite: glass or screen from top rail to bottom rail for the widest view.

Glass, screen or both

A traditional storm door keeps its glass all year. The self-storing door slides its glass to open the screen, the interchangeable-insert door swaps a glass insert for a screen insert by season, and the screen door with storm insert adds a wood-framed tempered glass panel for winter.

Will a storm door damage my wood front door?

A glazed storm door in front of a dark entry door can trap heat in direct sun. On a sunny exposure, choose an interchangeable-insert door and run the screen in summer, or check your entry door maker's guidance.

Wood or aluminum storm door?
