Start with the mounting space
Measure the usable recess and check locks, handles, blinds, and access to the opening. Frame depth and installed clearance are different measurements. A shallow opening may suit a surface-mounted design, but it still needs a sound attachment surface.
Choose how you want to open it
For regular fresh air, compare operating sashes first. For occasional seasonal access, a removable panel may be more convenient. If you need a screen, compare a screened aluminum model with the complete screen arrangement proposed for the vinyl system.
Compare the complete window
The frame material alone does not establish which assembly will perform better. Compare the glazing, perimeter seal, installation, and fit with your original window. Ask for the relevant performance information for the exact configuration when thermal or sound performance is a priority.

Use the same openings, quantities, glass, color, and screen requirements for both options. Include delivery to the same ZIP. A fixed screw-mounted panel and a removable compression panel serve different needs, even when their listed dimensions match.
Before you choose
Is vinyl the same as an acrylic insert?
No. Vinyl describes the frame; acrylic describes the clear panel material. Our vinyl interior range can use glass or acrylic, depending on the selected configuration.
Which one is easier to remove?
Compare the actual hardware. A vinyl turn-button panel releases differently from an aluminum direct-mount panel held by screws. Aluminum operating sashes and fixed panels also have model-specific removal methods.
Does aluminum always cost less than vinyl?
No. Size, glass, screens, finish, and freight can change the comparison. Use a quote for the same project requirements instead of comparing unrelated starting prices.
Can either option preserve the outside appearance?
Both interior ranges add the storm from the room side while retaining the primary window. Review visible meeting rails, trim, hardware, and any project appearance requirements before ordering.
