Bronze & Brown Storm Windows
Deep warm brown for stained wood and brick.
Explore collectionBlack aluminum frames, fabricated to your exact opening. The finish that matches the black-framed window trend directly, and the one that disappears most completely into a dark opening.
Every storm window adds a frame inside your existing opening. The question is whether that frame announces itself. A pale frame in a shadowed opening is high contrast, so the eye picks out the rectangle immediately and the window starts to look like it has a second border. Black does the reverse: it sits close in tone to the shadow inside the reveal, so the frame stops being a separate object and the glass reads larger.
This is why black has become the default on contemporary and modern-farmhouse facades, and why it works particularly well on light siding, where the dark opening is already the strongest element of the elevation.

Yes. Black is one of the five manufacturer-confirmed frame finishes and is available across every configuration we sell. It is a powder-coat upgrade, and the exact added price is shown in the configurator.
Usually the opposite, and this surprises people. A light-coloured frame against a dark opening draws a bright outline around the glass, and your eye reads the outline as the edge of the window. A black frame merges into the shadow line of the opening instead, so the glass reads closer to the full size of the hole in the wall.
A black frame in direct sun does run warmer than a white one. It is not a performance problem for the window, because aluminum sheds that heat quickly and the insulating work is done by the air gap rather than the frame. Where it does matter is on a south or west elevation with no shading, where a black frame can be genuinely hot to touch on a summer afternoon. Worth knowing if the window is at child height on a patio.
Dark finishes are the ones most exposed to UV, so this is a fair question. The colour is applied to the extrusion during fabrication rather than sprayed over a finished frame, which puts it on the full profile including the channel interiors. There is no surface film to chalk off the way a repainted frame does. Expect gradual softening over decades rather than the peeling you see on painted aluminum.
The screen surround is matched to the frame, so a black unit arrives with a black screen surround. The mesh is charcoal fiberglass, which is standard across all finishes because it is the least visible from outside and gives the clearest view out.
That is the most common reason people order this finish. One caution worth raising: black-clad replacement windows vary in tone between manufacturers, and some are closer to a very dark bronze than a true black. If your primary windows are a warm dark brown rather than neutral black, our bronze finish may be the closer match. Compare in daylight before ordering.
