The upgrade is calculated at $2 per united inch for each window. United inches equal the finished width plus the finished height. For example, a 30-inch-wide by 40-inch-high unit totals 70 united inches, which makes the glass upgrade $140 for that window.

Does tempered glass improve insulation?

Tempering changes how the pane responds to impact and breakage. It does not create the insulating benefit by itself. Thermal performance still depends on an accurate fit, a well-sealed perimeter, the air space between the storm and primary window, and correct installation.
