Black Storm Windows
High-contrast frames that recede into a dark opening.
Explore collectionWhite aluminum frames, fabricated to your exact opening. White trim is the most common exterior casing colour in American housing, which is why this is the finish that most often disappears into the window rather than sitting on top of it.
White is the default here because of what it sits against. A storm window mounts inside the opening, hard against the casing and blind stop, and on the overwhelming majority of American houses that casing is painted white. When frame and casing share a colour, the eye stops separating them and the storm window stops looking like an addition.
That is also why white is the wrong pick more often than people expect. On stained wood trim, or on a house where the windows themselves are dark, a white frame is the single most visible thing on the elevation. The finish is not inherently safe, it is safe against white trim.

Yes. White is one of the five manufacturer-confirmed frame finishes, is available across every configuration we sell, and is included in the base frame price.
Close, but be realistic about this. Exterior white paint drifts as it weathers, and a casing painted eight years ago is rarely the same white it started as. Our white is a clean neutral white, which typically reads as slightly brighter than aged trim for the first season and then stops being noticeable as the eye adjusts. If your trim is a deliberate off-white or cream, tan may actually sit closer.
They show different dirt rather than more of it. White hides the fine grey road film that makes bronze and black look dull, and shows organic staining such as pollen streaks and the runoff line under the sill. In practice most owners find white needs washing about as often as any other finish, just for different-looking reasons.
Not the way white vinyl and painted wood do. Yellowing in vinyl comes from the plastic itself degrading under UV, and in paint from the binder ageing. This is a finish on aluminum, so there is no plastic substrate to yellow and no paint film to break down. It stays white.
The screen surround is matched to the frame, so a white unit arrives with a white screen surround. The mesh is charcoal fiberglass regardless of frame colour, because pale mesh is considerably more visible from outside and makes it harder to see out.
It can, slightly, on a deeply recessed opening. A pale frame against a shadowed reveal is high contrast, so the eye reads the frame edge as the window edge. On flush or shallow openings, and anywhere the trim is already white, the effect disappears entirely because the frame and trim merge.
