Choose your lite style

The lite is the glass or screen opening. Every wood door comes in three layouts, with raised wood panels below on the half and 2/3 lite styles.

  • Half lite: opening in the upper half, with two vertical or two horizontal raised panels below. The most traditional look.
  • 2/3 lite: a taller opening with a single panel below, for more light and airflow.
  • Full lite: glass or screen from top rail to bottom rail for the widest view.

Older homes often have entries that no stock screen door fits. Each door is built to the width and height you send, with traditional wood joinery, and ships raw so you can paint or stain it to match your trim.

Common entries are 30 x 80, 32 x 80 and 36 x 80 inches, but every door here is built to your exact opening, including older entries that are not a standard size.

Will a wood screen door warp?

A wood door sealed on all six sides and hung plumb on three hinges resists warping. Keep the finish maintained, especially on the bottom edge.

How do I finish it?

Doors ship raw. Prime and paint or stain every face and edge before hanging, then add your hinges, spring or closer and latch.

Can I add glass for winter?

Yes. The wood screen door with storm insert takes a wood-framed tempered glass panel for winter, and the interchangeable-insert door swaps between glass and screen.
