Configure & priceA room you air out daily needs a different interior storm from a stairwell window you rarely open. Consider how often you need access, whether you can safely lift a removable panel, and where you would store it.
Compression systems use a recessed mounting plane. Double hung and sliding systems need space for their tracks. Surface mounts overlap the surrounding trim. Measure that space and check handles, blinds, and existing sash movement before choosing a system.
Clear glass, Low-E glass, and acrylic offer different handling and performance characteristics. Tempered or laminated glazing may be needed for the location or panel size. Large openings can require separate panels and mullions, which are priced after review.
An interior storm leaves the primary window in place, making it useful where the original exterior appearance matters. A close interior seal can reduce drafts and help moderate outside sound. Results depend on the existing window, installation quality, and the rest of the building enclosure.
An added panel does not repair a leaking primary window. Address failed glazing, decayed wood, and exterior water entry first. Plan for cleaning and seasonal access, and check moisture conditions after installation.

No. They add a second layer on the room side while the original window remains in place. Repair water leaks, loose glazing, or decayed wood in the primary window before installing an interior panel.
Frames are available in White, Almond, and Brown. Clear glass, Low-E glass, and acrylic have standard pricing. Tempered glass, tempered Low-E, and laminated glass require a project quote.
Measure all four sides where the frame will mount, to the nearest 1/16 inch. Record the top and bottom widths and both side heights separately. Do not average them or subtract an installation allowance. Include mounting depth, obstructions, and any out-of-square or bowed areas for review.
Specialty glazing, irregular openings, mullions, shallow mounting depth, and large panels need review. Standard glass is limited to 25 square feet and 125 united inches. Double-hung assemblies taller than 72 inches need review. Freight and final manufacturing measurements must be confirmed before production.
Tell us if the panel is within 12 inches of a door or 18 inches of the floor. The manufacturer requires acrylic or tempered glazing in those locations. Confirm all project requirements with your installer before ordering.
